Michael Wolniewicz (pronounced wool-nev-itch) originally started
out as a Tuba Major accepted to the renowned Eastman School
of Music. The thought of practicing the tuba every day for
4 hours, however, turned out to be kinda, well...lets say
not very fulfilling. After exploring a woodworking class,
he fell in love with the craft and later received a degree
in Furniture Design from Buffalo State University. He has
been making furniture ever since.
Described
as passionate and a perfectionist by one client, Michael's
work ethic and standards exceed most peoples expectations.
His love for the craft and value of a "job well done"
are indicative of "old world values" that he picked
up from his Uncle Ray (a woodworker) and his father Clem (a
farmer and no-nonsense kinda guy).
His
interest in the Arts and Crafts movement and specifically
Greene and Greene was fueled when he moved to Virginia and
began working for Hardwood
Artisans a company most well known for its murphy beds
and craftsman construction methods. Prior to this Michael
did a lot of work with antique furniture restoration and his
design work showed a strong interest in japanese joinery.
Michael's many interests include, Tuba playing, Pottery, Stained
glass. watching the Bills and the Sabres and enjoying time
with his wife, son, two spoiled dogs and one tremendous cat.
